Dr. Eric Jackson is owner of our office.  Growing up locally, he attended Hinsdale Central High School where he was a member of the school’s stellar tennis team as well as the basketball teams that competed in the Illinois State High School Association (IHSA) State Tournament two years in a row.  After graduation, he attained his Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Dr. Jackson then returned to the Chicagoland area to complete his dental training at The University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry attaining not only his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree but a Bachelor of Science in Dentistry as well.  In his final year of dental school, Dr. Jackson was awarded The American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Award for his efforts and skill in the field of dental radiology.  Dr. Jackson has a love for dentistry in his blood.  During the period between the 1940’s through the 1960’s, Dr. Jackson’s great-grandfather owned and operated Modern Dental Laboratory located near 63rd and Halsted in Chicago.  Dr. Jackson’s father is a practicing orthodontist near Midway Airport in Chicago.  In addition to private practice, his father was a clinical assistant professor in The Orthodontic Department at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry for nearly 20 years.

Advanced Education

Dr. Jackson is a firm believer in the importance of lifelong learning and takes numerous continuing education courses annually to further his skill.  Since graduation from dental school he has amassed over 2000 hours of continuing education covering a vast array of dental subjects.  Throughout his career, several dental organizations have awarded Dr. Jackson with multiple Fellowships as well as one Mastership.  These designations are indicated by the letters after the “DDS” that appears after Dr. Jackson’s name and are often compared to Masters and Doctorate degrees earned by those with careers in Education.

2010 - Fellowship -The Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD)

In 2010, Dr. Jackson was one of only three Illinois dentists awarded Fellowship in The Academy of General Dentistry at that year's national meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana.  To earn a Fellowship Award, a dentist must be an AGD member for three consecutive years, earn a minimum of 500 approved continuing dental education credits, pass comprehensive 250 question examination, apply for the award, and attend a convocation ceremony at the National AGD Meeting.  In the AGD's 60-year history (2012), only 15,343 dentists have ever earned their Fellowship in the organization.  For more information about the AGD Fellowship award, please click HERE.

2011 - Fellowship - The International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI)

Dr. Jackson has a passion for dental implants and dental implant surgery.  He has surgically placed over 1600 dental implants and restored many more.  His surgical skill extends beyond implants to include bone and sinus grafting as well as many minor periodontal surgical procedures.  In 2011, Dr. Jackson was awarded a combination Surgical & Restorative Fellowship in The International Congress of Oral Implantologists at that year's annual meeting in Chicago, IL for his skills and accomplishments in both aspects of implant dentistry.  In order to achieve this type of Fellowship, a dentist must  1) provide a listing of 20 completed implant cases (both surgical & restorative), all of which must be at least 12 months old, for evaluation by the ICOI's Credentialing  committee.  2) Provide documentation of completion of 75 hours or more of implant education in the preceding five years.  3) Provide a letter of recommendation from a current ICOI Fellow, IPS Master, ICOI Diplomate, or member of ICOI's Credentials Committee.  4) Submit a current Curriculum Vitae.  To maintain the Fellowship, a dentist must maintain their membership in good standing and must attend at least one ICOI/IPS sponsored or co-sponsored meeting every three years as well as accumulate 75 hours or more of implant education within five years after becoming an ICOI Fellow.

2011 - Fellowship - The Academy of Dentistry International (FADI)

In 2011, Dr. Jackson was honored to be one of 27 dentists from The United States to be awarded Fellowship that year in Las Vegas, NV.  A Fellowship in the Academy of Dentistry International (ADI) is a distinctive honor that is bestowed only if the accomplishments of the nominee are truly outstanding.  ADI includes in its membership many outstanding individuals in the dental profession who have a desire to give back a portion of what they have reaped.  ADI membership is altruism at its highest level.  In order to maintain the stature of the Fellowship, the Academy's Committee on Credentials and Fellowship studies and evaluates each nominee.  The Academy may bestow Fellowship on a person who has notably contributed to the advancement of the dental profession in one or more ways, such as: Clinical Practice; Research; Education; Public Service; Literature or Journalism; and Service to the Profession.  Upon approval, the Board of Regents awards the honor at a formal convocation ceremony usually in conjunction with a major dental meeting.

2012 - Mastership - The Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD)

In 2012, Dr. Jackson progressed further within The Academy of General Dentistry and was awarded Mastership in the organization.  He was one of only 97 dentists worldwide to receive this honor at the national meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  In the AGD's 60-year history (2012), only 15,343 dentists have ever earned Fellowship and only 2,818 have earned Mastership.  This means that less than 1% of all dentists in history have achieved Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry.  To attain Mastership members must first be Fellows in the Academy of General Dentistry, then they must earn an additional 600 approved continuing education credits, meeting minimum requirements in certain dental disciplines.  In addition, 400 of the required credits must be in participation courses, in which skills are learned through manipulation of dental materials.  Thus, a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry has taken a total of 1,100 hours of continuing education.  A Master has studied 16 disciplines in dentistry, such as periodontics, orthodontics, endodontics, pediatrics, and dental implants.  The final requirement of Mastership is to attend a convocation ceremony at the National AGD meeting.  For more information about the AGD Mastership award, please click HERE.

2013 - Fellowship - The International College of Dentistry (FICD)

In 2013, Dr. Jackson was one 290 American dentists to be awarded Fellowship in The International College of Dentistry (ICD)  that year in New Orleans, LA.  The ICD is the oldest and largest international honorary dental organization established in 1928 with over 12,000 members (designated as Fellows) around the globe.  Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only and is granted in recognition of a dentist’s “outstanding professional achievement, meritorious service, and dedication to the continued progress of dentistry for the benefit of humankind.”  Prior to being recognized as a Fellow of the ICD, the candidate's qualifications and achievements are evaluated by a series of credential committees in order to insure that he or she is deserving of this high honor and adhere to the ICD motto, goals and objectives.  Once inducted, a Fellow in good standing is authorized to use the letters “FICD” after his/her name.
